UNRRA AID FOR CHINA

£50,000,000 WORTH OF GOODS

LONDON, August 17. Unrra, in response to China’s, request for relief, is sending 800,000 tons of goods, valued at £50,000,000. as soon as the Chinese ports are open, says the ‘ Evening Standard.’ The ferocity of the struggle in China permitted only very limited supplies to be sent in during the war, but a small group of Unrra officials administered some relief and paved the way for the time when greater help would be possible. They have already saved thousands of lives and prevented a famine. They are at present fighting an epidemic of cholera.
