WAGE INCREASES
ARBITRATION COURT ORDERS / .Orders amending the wage provisions of four more awards under the Economic Stabilisation Emergency Regulations have been 'issued by the Arbitration Court, i Employees under the stonemasons’ award have been • granted an increase in pay of 3sd an hour. The country work board and lodging allowance has been raised to 6s a day, and the special country work overtime rate to l|d an hour.
The wage rate of employees under the engineers’ draughtsmen’s award has been increased by 11s Bd, making £6 6s 8d a week. Under the tinsmiths, coppersmiths, and sheet-metal workers’ award, the addition to the hourly rate for adult •workers is 3id, and the increases for boys and youths range from 5s to' 10s a, week. An increase of 11s 8d a week in the minimum rates for adult workers is provided by the amendment to the South Island electrical workers {radio section) award. The increases for youths range from 5s to 10s a week, and those for female workers from 4s to 10s a week._ Meal.money in each case is in future to be paid at the rate of 2s. The new .rates are subject to the two cost-of-living bonuses, and are made retrospective to April l last.
