WAGE INCREASES GRANTED
HARBOUR BOARDS EMPLOYEES In terms of an order issued by the Arbitration Court under the recent amendment to the Economic Stabilisation Emergency Regulations, 1942, increases of wages have been made to workers employed under the New Zealand Harbour Boards Employees' award. An increase of 10s a week is granted in respect of all male and female workers of 21 and over whose ordinary weekly hours are 40 or less in any one week, and lis for those whose ordinary weekly hours exceed 40 hours in any one week. Male and female workers under 21 are granted an increase of 7s 6d a week, and when they reach 21 they are to receive a further increase of 2s 6d or 3s fid. according to their weekly hours, The above provisions are to apply in respect of workers whose weekly rates of wages are determined by the clause in the schedule relating to fitters, turners, blacksmiths, and other tradesmen, unless and until the appropriate award referred to in the clause is amended or a new award made, when the weekly rates for such workers shall be adjusted. Meal of 2s is provided under the court's order. The increases are made retrospective to April 1.
