AMERICAN RESOURCES 107,586 SHIPS OF ALL SIZES (Rec. noon.) WASHINGTON. May 27. A survey of naval power reveals that the United Mates at present has 107,586 ships, ranging from battleships and giant carriers to tiny patrol boats and landing barges, says the United Press. In addition, the United States has under construction 19,882 ships, including two battleships, 15 aircraft carriers, 30 carrier escorts, 47 cruisers, 104 destroyers, six destroyer escorts, 22 fast transports, and 45 submarines.
