NEW MEMBER'S CAREER

Mrs Hilda Ross is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Adam Nixon, of Mount Eden, Auckland. Her husband, Mr H. C. (Ross, of Messrs Barton and Ross, Hamilton, died five years ago. She has two sous. One served for three years with the 81.N.Z.A.F., and the other son is with the New Zealand Division in Italy.

Mrs Ross has given outstanding public service.. Her work in helping in the re'iel' of distress during the depression won her the gratitude of many and the admiration of others. She is a justice of the peace, and has been president of the St. John Ambulance Nursing Division for many years. For four years she has been a member of the Waikato Hospital Board, and at the last elections was second on the poll, only a few votes behind the late Mr F. Fiiidlay. She was also elected to the ißorough Council, and is now Deputy Mayor of Hamilton. She is the president of the Lady Gnlwny Guild, a joint organiser of the Waikato children's health camps, a member of the vestry of St. Aidan's Church, founder and leader of the Women's Auxiliary Volunteer Corps, and president of the Hamilton AVomeu's Patriotic Committee.
