COMMUNITY SING
£7l FROM OPENING SESSION Dunedin's weekly community sing sessions were resumed yesterday, when the 1945 season was ushered in with- a " Victory Day " sing in the Strand Theatre. The featured numbers embraced popular Navy, Army, and Air Force songs, with special attention given to 'The King and Queen Are Still in London,' ' There'll Always Be an England,' and 'Montgomery.' A special attraction was the Reckitt and Colman Ladies' Choir, under the direction of Miss Bertha (Rawlinson, while the three sing leaders, Messrs H. P. Desmoulins, J. F. Himburg; and A. Pettitt, were again in charge. Receipts amounting to £7l lis will be donated to the R.S.A. Building Fund. The history of these Dunedm sings, which are now entering into their fifteenth continuous year, was briefly reviewed during to-day's session, when it was stated that the committee intended to maintain the high standard achieved in the past. The best wishes for a successful season were extended by the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron) in a letter, which explained that he hoped to attend next week's function.
