D.D.T. INSECTICIDE

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright (Rec. 8 a.m.) SYDNEY, May 25. The' new powerful insecticide, D.D.T., is now on sale in solution form in Sydney. It has been released in its pure form to civilian exterminant contractors to replace cyanide, the use of which has resulted in a number of tragedies,. To the general public D.D.fi.'. is being sold dissolved in ' kerosene, in about 1 per cent, solution. Tests have shown that this solution is powerful enough to deal'with household pests.
Monacrin, a powerful, stainless antiseptic developed at Sydney University two years ago, will be available to civilians soon. Monacrin is reported to bo the best general antiseptic known. It is a better preventive of tetanus than iodine, and has been used with outstanding success in ear, nose, and throat wounds. As it does not damage tissue, monacrin is sometimes preferable to penicillin.
