CHURCHILL CAUTIOUS
NO STATEMENT YET "MAY BE THIS WEEK" J (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. " I have no statement to make about the war position, except that it is definitely more satisfactory than five years ago," said Mr Churchill in the House of Commons. "If important information reaches the Government this week, as it may do, I will make a brief announcement, but that will only occur if the information is of exceptional importance. •' With regard to conditions which will occur if an announcement of a decisive consequence justifying celebration were made this week, or at any time in the future, a number of arrangements have been prepared which will be issued to-night in a Home Office circular. Itf a major decision is reached the Government will give the substance of it immediately to the House of Commons. Ido not consider that the information should be withheld until exact information in all zones is achieved,"
