AN EXPLANATION

GAPTURED WHILE SERVING GERMANY

(Rec. 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, April .10. : It may not be apparent from the Moscow radio broadcast regarding alleged ill-treatment of Russian prisoners in Allied hands that the men mentioned were captured in arms serving in the German armies, except for a proportion enrolled in the Tridt organisation, says ' The Times ' military correspondent. It is estimated that 95 per cent, of those in Great Britain were captured in German uniforms It is probable the bulb of them were forcibly enrolled, or accepted service to avoid starvation, but it was not easy for the British and the Americans to make distinctions. To the time of the Crimea Conference thev were treated as prisoners of war, and received the same treatment as other prisoners. It was agreed at Yalta that they should be repatriated, and many thousands have already gone home in British ships which would otherwise have been engaged in faking food to Europe. Moreover, all the British "prisoners liberated by the Russians, have been brought home in British shipsl

It is wrong to say the Russians " discovered " three camps here, because the 'Russians had already been notified of their existence.
