BRITAIN NON-COMMITTAL

AUSTRIAN PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT LONDON, April 29. Official circles are non-committal on the policy and composition of the Austrian Provisional Government, though competent observers regard the Ministers as broadly representative of the principal Austrian anti-Nazi parties, says Reuter's diplomatic correspondent. British official reaction makes it clear that only Russia of the four occupying Powers (Britain, the United States, France, and Russia) had the opportunity of presiding at the setting up of the new Government. Most of the four Social Democrats, three Communists, three Christian Socialists, and three non-party Ministers forming the Government are well known in Austrian" public life. The Communists' representation shows an increase compared with the proportion of Communists returned in the last free election in 1932. This increase corresponds with the growth of the Communist Party in the past two years.
