WELCOMED HOME

ST. HILDA SERVICEMEN

About 3-30 people attended a " welcome home " social in the Coronation Hall, St. Kilda, last night to 30 men and women from the borough who had receutlv returned from active service. The mayor (Mr N. D. Anderson), who presided, welcomed the guests on behalf of the citizensof the borough, and paid a tribute to their work in the Empire's cause. Other speakers were Mr J. J. Marlow (on behalf of the Mayor of Dunedin), the Rev. J. Watson (on behalf of the ministers of the borough). Mr H. P. Jefcoate (president of the Duuedin R.S.A.). and the Mayor of Mosgiel, Mr W. P. Hartstonge. Major R. Orr replied on behalf of the guests of honour. Items were rendered during the pvpning by tho St. Kilda Municipal Hand and by Bandsman Ralph Francis, Miss J. Meinnes, Miss K. Nuttery, Miss V. McCmeken, Mr .7. Paterson, Mr J. Deveronx. and Mr S. Longworth. Mrs D. Burke was the accompanist. The latter part of the evening waa taken up with dancing. Supper wa» served by a committee of ladies.
