GIANT CARRIER

FRAHKLIN D. ROOSEVELT LAUNCHED (Rec. 11.35 a.m.) . NEW YORK. April 29. Speaking at the launching of the 45.000-ton carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Navy Secretary. Mr J. V Forrestal. said the ship would join 20 other American carriers as " a symbol of our determination to prosecute the war against Japan to complete victory." He added that the Japanese, like the Germans, may fight a desperate war of suicide and self-ex-tinction.

Mrs Roosevelt. Admiral King, and other dignitaries attended the launching.
