FEW BOMBING TARGETS LEFT
DIVERSION TO FAR EAST LIKELY LONDON. April 28. Pointing out that the enemy targets available to heavy bombers in the European theatre are uuder a tenth of what they were before D-Day, the 'Sunday Times' says: "The AngloAmerican High Command must soon decide the future of these bombing forces. The decision will almost inevitably mean the diversion of much of the Allied strength to the Far East. Now that the Americans have island bases within a comparatively short distance of the Japanese mainland, it is reasonable to assume that they will call on some superfluous squadrons of Lan.casters and Halifaxes in Europe as reinforcements to intensify the attack against Japan.'!.
