PUBLIC NOTICES. DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL. VISIBILITY AT STREET INTERSECTIONS. UNDER Section 209 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the Dunedin City Council is given power to order the occupier or owner of. any land abutting on any street within the. city to remove, lower, or trim to the satisfaction of theCouncil any tree or hedge, or to lower any fence if, in the opinion of the Council, such tree, hedge, or fence is likely by reason of its obstructing the view, to cause danger to the traffic on that or any other street. Although it is not proposed at the present time to serve notices on all occupiers and owners under this section, the Council considers it desirable that action should be taken to effect en as a serious hazard exists at many intersections in the city due to the restricted sight distance as a result of the presence of high trees, hedges, and fences. Householders concerned are therefore asked to co-operate with the Council in an endeavour to eliminate the danger by arranging for the lowering of all such trees, hedges, and fences to a height of 3ft for a distance of 33ft on each side of all. street intersections. It is further suggested that trees, hedges, end fences should be lowered at angles and curves m streets where the clear view of traffic is obstructed. R. A. JOHNSTON, Town Clerk.
