TOUNGOO TAKEN GOOD PROGRESS TO THE SOUTH (Rec. 11.1 a.m.) RUGBY, April 26. British and Indian troops of the Fourteenth Army, who have advanced 163 miles along the axis of the main north and south road and railway from Meiktila, have captured Toungoo and have occupied the surrounding group of airfields, says a South-east Asia headquarters communique. The advance southwards from Toungoo is making good progress. East of Thazi, on the Japanese escape route into the Shan States, our troops are encountering opposition. Our aircraft continued the attacks on enemy installations and strategical targets.
