OVER 60,000 PRISONERS

SWIFT RAGE NORTH UNCHECKED (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, April 26. The two armies of the Fifteenth Group continue" to smash the enemy, meeting only scattered resistance and driving northwards without loss of tempo. Troops on the Ligurian coast are attacking m the direction of Genoa. The enemy is using mobile coast defence guns in an effort to delay the advance of the Eighth Army to the Adige ißiver on a wide front. In the past 24 hours the Eighth Army has taken 20 tanks and 40 guns, and has captured or destroyed nearly 1,000 vehicles. '

The Fifth Army captured Verona this morning, and some of its elements are now across the Adige River. Armoured units are moving north-west of Mantua.

The Fifth and Eighth armies have taken more than 66,000 prisoners.
