TABLE TENNIS
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Aotta Table Tennis Club. Mr W. Leathley presided. Opening night was fixed for Monday next. The election of office-bearers resulted : —President, Mr W Leathley ; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs W. Martin and A. C. Sehrick; club captain, Mr R. A. Algie; honorary secretary. Mips M. Hislop; honorary treasurer, Miss E. Betts; committee—Messrs A. Kwok, M. Crum, C. Martin, Misses R. Cameron, D. Ross. D. Downie; delegates to OT.T.A.—Messrs IR. A. Algie, W. Leathley, L. Todd, and Miss M. Hislop.
The colonel was invited to a farm for lunch. He astonished the farmer by eatina two small roast fowls. Later he noticed a cock strutting about, and remarked: "By gad. that's a proud bird." "So he should be. M answered the farmer, " he has two sons in .the army."
