ALLIED AIR MASTERY DECISIVE ISSUE IN BATTLE (Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, April 17. The Americans fighting in.the Elbe bridgehead now have what they need to decider the battle—air cover.

The ' Daily Express ' correspondent at Supreme Headquarters to-day said that every 20 minutes since 11 a.m. twin-engined planes had been laying down a carpet of bombs on the Germans around the bridgehead. A total of 400 bombers were operating. Fighter-bombers were also out m swarms. German concentrations from the Elbe to points 10 miles south-west of Berlin were strafed. Our bombers met no flak and no enemy planes.
