OTAGO CENTENARY SYNOD APPROVES SUGGESTIONS Consideration of suggestions for the celebration of the centenary of Otago in 1948 was given by the annual meeting of the,Synod of Otago and Southland last night. These suggestions, which had been drawn up by a special committee appointed for the purpose, were adopted. They are as follows: " 1. That a history of the Presbyterian Church in Otago and Southland for the first 100 years be written and published, and that the Rev. Professor Collie be invited to write the history. " 2. That the Centenary Committee be asked to consider the holding of an historical pageant. " 3. That, as a centennial memorial, a suitable building be erected to house the Theological Hall, and that synod aim at raising a sum of £50,000, part to be devoted to the erection of a hall and part to be used to establish a scholarship endowment fund. " 4. That a committee representative of the synod be appointed to carry out these recommendations." The synod also decided to extend an invitation to the moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland for the,-year 1947 to attend the Otago celebrations in March, 1948. A committee representative of the synod's district was set up in accordance with paragraph 4.
