PRESBYTERIAN SYNOD

ANNUAL-MEETING REV. J. FORDYCE ELECTED MODERATOR The annual meeting of the Synod of Otago, and Southland- was began this morning in First Church, the Moderator, the Rev. J. C. Loan, presiding. As a tribute to the memory of the late President of the United States of America, Mr F, 1). Roosevelt, members stood in silence for a brief period, after which the Moderator offered an appropriate prayer. The new Moierator, the Rev. James Fordyce, of Fiifield, was duly elected and inducted iito the chair.

The date and place of the next annual meeting was fixed for April 2,194 G, at Dunedin.

A resolutior of sympathy with the relatives of ths late Rev. A. L. Miller, who had died during the year, was passed. A resolution of sympathy with Chaplain D. E. Dulcan, who had been badly wounded in action and had returned home, was also passed. Other busiisss taken at the forenoon sederunt was of a formal nature. At the afternoon sederunt, the Rev. I<\ 15. Partoi. 8.A.. of Gore, was nominated ae Moderator designate for 19-4 G.
