BANGKOK BOMBED
LONG FLIGHT BY R.A.F. LIBERATORS LARGE ELEGTRIG POWER PLANT SMASHED (ißec. 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY. April 10. The smashing of the Thailand Government electric power plant at Bangkok by R.A.F. Liberators in daylight yesterday is thought to have seriouslydisrupted the city's transport. The plant not only supplies the whole south side with light and power, but also provides power for the tramway network. Its output is 19,000,000 units a year.' Eighty ipolb bombs went down in a dense concentration, and photographs show that the power house was destroyed and adjacent buildings heavily damaged. A violent explosion was_ observed. A large warehouse was wiped out. The crews could see a 5,000 ft column of smoke for 30. miles of the way back
The bombers making the 2,200-mile round trip went in singly from several directions. The raid lasted 25 minutes.
