SUPPLY EXCEEDED
STRONG DEMAND FOR USED GARS " There is a big demand for used cars of all sorts to-day, but the. supply is not so good," stated a motor dealer to-day. He went on to say that he had recently sold a 1937 model car, which was normally in the medium price class, for £6OO, while £SOO, had been, offered for another eight-cylinder type of car. Another dealer stated that good prices could be obtained for practically any make of car of .1939 to 1940 models provided they were reasonably well shod. There were periodic rumours of new cars coming to the country, but these were all the result of wishful thinking. It could be expected that there would be no new cars available until some time after the war, he said. A few trucks were sometimes shipped, but definitely no cars. " Prices are not so hectic as they were a short time ago," said one man dealing exclusively in used cars, " but there is still a good demand for cars. The difficulty is to find "enough to go round. In'fact our experience has been that we cannot supply the demand."
