NATIONAL PARTY
NEW. BRANCHES FORMED • Supporters of the New Zealand National Party in the Musselburgh section of the Dunedin Central Electorate met last night in the Methodist Sunday School Hall, when a strong branch was formed. Mr W. A. Bodkin,. M.P. for Central Otago, who was a visitor to the city duriug the day, attended the opening stages of the meeting, wheii he delivered a short address. At the conclusion of his remarks, the business of the branch formation was proceeded with, the electorate organiser (Mr H. McLeod) stressing the need for organisation and the continued active support of all party members. A strong committee was appointed, while Mr E. H. Ewing was elected chairman. The meeting also appointed its delegates to the Central Electorate Committee.
There was a good atteudauco of members present in the George Street School Hall last night, when a district branch of the party in the Dunedin North electorate was established. The district organiser (Mr H. A. Glasson) reviewed at length the work being undertaken in the organisation of the various electorates throughout the city. Only by the decentralisation of the work within the electorates would the party be able to build up its' strength, he said, and he in a position to make a successful fight at the General Election next year. A strong and active committee was established during the evening, Mr L. D. Mclver being elected chairman. At the conclusion of the business side of the meeting, Mr W. A. Bodkin delivered a short address. On the motion of the chairman he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
