LONDON, March 5. /The first trooips to liberate the great cities of occupied Holland will see the most distressing sights in Western Europe, according to the diplomatic correspondent of the ' Observer. 7 People who escaped from occupied Holland recently have brought a, grim picture of the starving population there.' Starvation point in Northern Holland .was reached in the new year, after whicli, the situation steadily deteriorated.. In Western Holland cultivation has been reduced to; nil by the flooding of' land by the Germans as a defence measure or by the lack of fuel for pumps Eastern Holland has some potatoes, but they cannot be transported to the west because of the destruction of railways and requisition by the Germans of all the remaining transport. ■
