TAIERI HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
AUTUMN SHOW Notwithstanding, the unfavourable .season, the autumn snow o<f the Taieri Horticultural Society at Mosgiel on Saturday was very successful. There were good entries, and some beautiful exhibits were staged. Gladioli, aster.s, and dahlias were very numerous. Of the latter, the judge' (Mr J. Granger, Dunedin) spoke very highly. There was a better show of them than in Dunedin.
The decorative work ivat a feature of the show and was highly praised bv the judge (Mrs H. K. Kirk, Dunedin ). There was also an excellent show of vegetables. Mr Blackburn, of Kaitangata, judged them, and gave special praise to carrots, marrows, tomatoes, beetroot, and rhubarb.
The Greaves Memorial Cup for most points in cut flowers was awarded to Miss McPherson ; the special prize donated by Mr Douglas Matheson for most po : uts in the children's section tn Moira Finnie; and the same donor's sDecial for best gladioli to. Mr C. O Thomson (Dunedin'). The best dahlia in the show wjis exhibited bv Mr G Mason CKaitangata). and the best, aster and he.-t eMioli by Mr O. O, Thompson (Dunedin).
