TAIERI RIVER TRUST

Flood damage was discussed at the monthly aneetmg of the Taieri River Trust, presided over by Mr H. W. Wilson.

The Chairman reported that part of the embankment below Berwick had been damaged by the flood, but' that temporary repairs had been effected and this prevented a break. The damaged box on the Henley-Berwick road at the Contour channel had given trouble, causing flooding. Some unauthorised person had opened a valve in the pijpes under the contour channel, causing unnecessary flooding to two properties in this area.—lt was decided that this matter be placed in the hands of the police. Slight damage was caused to the bank below the Outram railway bridge. \ deputation, headed by Mr I. Wishart, met the trust. It was explained that the flood waters in the outer area at Otokia had caused considerable damage to farm crops, pastures, and winter feed.—After discussion it was decided that the settlers concerned should meet the Minister of Public Works and place their position before him.
