TRAIN TRAVEL
RESUMPTION OF SERVICES BUSES BRIDGING GAP The Railway Department at Dunedin advised this morning that the line between Dunedin and Invercargill is clear of flood waters, and that the usual express train service has been resinned. In the ease of the main north line, the route is clear as far as Timaru, andl the usual express service will be resumed to-morrow, except that passengers will be transported by buses between Timaru and Temuka or Rangitata. The express from Invercargill will leave there at 6.15 to-morrow morning, and will leave Dunedin for the north at 10.50 for Timaru. It is expected that the express from the north to-morrow will reach Dunedin at 4.18.
The express from the north to-day is expected to reach Dunedin at 7.6 p.m. The train which was due froni Christchurch at 1.33 a.mi yesterday ,did not reach here until 10.30 a.m. on account of delays because of the state of the lino between Timaru and Oamnru. A second train from Christchurch arrived in Dunedin at 9.40 o’clock last evening, after being due at 8.54 p.m. In each ease transhipment of passengers was necessary between Rangitata and Timaru. A passenger train left Dunedin for Christchurch at 7 a.m. yesterday., and the train which usually departs for the north at 8.45 was sent away this morning at 7.40. The normal 5,20 p.m. train to Tnvprcargill last evening was delayed pending the arrival of the train from the north at 9.40. Goods for rail transport north of' Timaru are not being accepted at Dunedin in the meantime.
