ELDERLY BOWLERS' DAY
RECORD ENTRIES IN ANNUAL FIXTURE Record, entries were received for the thirty-first annual “ Elderly Bowlers’ Day," which was held at, the Dunedin green on Saturday, There were 96 competitors, the average age being 76.45 years. The number of players and the average age were both higher than in any previous function. The oldest bowler was Mr J. T. Botting (89), who played for the Dunedin No. 1 rink, the other three members being Messrs W. Briggs (85), J. B. Frame (82), and H. G. Williams (80). The sum of their ages was 386 years. The second oldest present were Messrs John Watson (Port Chalmers) and F. W. Knight (Kaituna), both of whom are 88 years.
Mr H. G. Williams, president of the club, extended a welcome to the bowlers. The Mayor (Mr D. O. Cameron) also spoke briefly, and Mr Alex. Cook (representing the Dunedin Bowling Centre),thanked the Dunedin Club for its efforts to make the day a success. Following are the results: — J. Watson, J. Knewstubb, J. Osborn, C.
