RECIPIENT'S WIFE LIVES IN DUHEDIN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan.' 30. A magnificent example of skill, gallahtry, and devotion to duty is. attributed to Acting Squadron-leader James Arnold Harrison, D. 5.0., D.F.C., of Talkapau (Hawke's Bay), by the citation to the recent award of the Distinguished Service Order. Harrison has completed two tours or operational duty, it states, during which he has attacked a wide variety ot targets, many of tliern far into enemy territory. His qualities have been well illustrated- in the high standard of operational efficiency achieved by the flight he commands. . On a recent occasion, Harrison led a large formation of aircraft in an attack against Scholvan Buer. By his outstanding skill he contributed in good measure to the results obtained. Harrison was farming at Takapau before he entered the R.N.Z.A.F. early in-1941 He was educated at the Hereworth School, Havelock North, and the Wancanui Collegiate School, His wife is Mrs J. A. Harrison, of Dunedin, and his mother Mrs J. Harrison, Hastings. DUNEDIN D.F.G. The successful completion of a large number Of sorties with determination and skill is summarised in the citation to the recent award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Flying Officer Colin Stuart Martin, of Dunedin. '' He has attacked road, rail, and river transport whenever possible, it states, and has left fires burning on several occasions. He has shown untiring zeal and' determination during his two period's of concentrated operations and at all times his fine fighting spirit and courage have been worthy of high commendation." Born in Christchurch 24 years ago, Martin was educated at Marlborough College and Wellington College, and was emploved as a clerk in Dunedin until he entered the "R.N.Z.A.F. in 1942.
