STRIKE COLLAPSE
OHMOINE ALSO RESUMES TWO TRAINS TO WELLINGTON TO-NIGHT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 27. Advice that the Ohakune strikers had decided to resume work at 5 p.m. to-day was received in Auckland early this afternoon. This information allowed Auckland officials to announce to a long, waiting queue of intending, travellers that two trains would be despatched for Wellington to-day —one at 6 p.m. and the second at 7.15. It was also announced that no priority bookings would be observed, and that the 800 seats would be-allotted on the " first in, first served " principle. No announcement concerning possible trains to the south to-morrow has yet been made. Bookings were accepted this morning for Opua, Whangarei, and PutaruruRotorua trains. It was also announced that all aircraft for Wellington were fully booked, and that the service would not be continued after to-day. In other respects the position is almost back to normal. Ordinary short distance passenger and goods trains are running to-day on their regular timetables. »
