SITTING OF APPEAL BOARD A sitting of the No. XI. Armed Forces Appeal Board—Messrs W. R. Clarke (chairman), D. T. Vorley, and J. C. H. Somerville —was held in Dunedin yesterday. The following appeals were adjourned : ■James Wren and Co., Ltd., for J. F. Morris (painter), to February 28; R. L. Pettitt, for R. W. Pettitt, sine die; Mrs E. McKenzie, for J. McKenzie (painter), to February 28;' Modern Millinery Company Ltd., for J, R. de Courcy (hatter), sine die; J. McGrath and Co., for C. S. Wilson (tentmaker), sine die; I. W. Wilman (dairy farmer), sine die; H. L. Steedman Ltd., for C. A. Jolly (cutter), to March 31; H. L. Steedman (manager and presser), sine die. The following appeals were dismissed: Mrs M. E. Charnley, for A. Charnley: W. C. Leith (apprentice engineer); J. W. Smeaton and Co., for G Ross (public accountant), as from April 30, 1944-; Wilkinson and Son, for T. Hollebon (pharmacy apprentice), as from March 31: Cossens and Black Ltd.. for W. H. Wilson (apprentice motor mechanic), as from March 31; Drages Ltd., for E. L. Sinclair (upholsterer); J. E Hudson (student). Indefinite release from the Army was recommended in an appeal by P. McDonnell for A. Wells (farm hand). An appeal for E. Harwood for the release from the Air Borce of VV. J. Steart (farm worker) was dismissed, as was also an appeal by Stanton Bros. Ltd. for the release from the Army of F„ B. Stanton (director and factory manager).
