MODERNISATION OF MASCOT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright (8 a.m.) SYDNEY,' Jan. 25. Streets, factories, 'and blocks of houses are marked down for removal in the £2,000,000 scheme to,.modernise Mascot aerodrome. The plan, which was drawn up by civil aviation officials, lias still to be submitted to the Cabinet, which will also consider alternative, airport sites to cope with Sydney's expanding air traffic. At Mascot it is proposed to increase the size of the. airfield threefold, providing 'all-weather runways. 10,000 feet in length. The new runways, more than double the length of the present strips, would take the world's largest planes.
