PENINSULA AFFAIRS
WEDNESDAY THE STATUTORY HALFHOLIDAY
At a special meeting of the Peninsula County Council, held at Portobello yesterday, it was decided that the statutory halfholiday for shops within the county should be Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Mr J. Hellyer (chairman), and Crs J. W. Havbvow, D.' Rutherford. R. W. Aitkcn, T S. Edmond, M. Geary, T. Aitken, and R. G. Habershon.
At the ordinary meeting, which followed, accounts amounting to £436 16s 2d were passed for payment. Messrs R. \V. Kindley and W. Torrance, 'Wayorlcy, sought the consent of the council to install a water supply at their propertics.—Granted on the usual conditions. Mr F M. Hancock wrote regarding the state of the road to Hurndcll's farm, Portobello.—The matter was left in the hands of the foreman.
