DIVISION OF OPINION IH ASSEMBLY (P.A.) HASTINGS, Nov. 6. There was a sharp division of. opinion at the Presbyterian Assembly this morning on the question of the admission of women as elders. Though the matter-has already been considered during the past year by the Presbyteries, the Assembly eventually agreed that it be referred back to them.

Tlje Assembly Clerk reported that the replies received from the Presbyteries wore not decisive. Five had not made a decision, but asked that the matter be deferred for consideration after the war. Of the remaining 16 Presbyteries, eight had expressed approval and eight disapproval. ■
