"COMMANDO" REACHES SYDNEY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY. Nov. 6. The new twice-weekly air transport service between London and Sydney has been inaugurated by the arrival at Mascot from Auckland of the famous plane, "'Commando,'' the converted Liberator which, took Mr Churchill to conferences at Casablanca, Washington, Teheran, and Moscow. It left London for Sydney on Saturday week after flying Mr Churchill back to England from Moscow four days earlier. The plane's actual flying time for the 15,545mile trip from London to Sydney was 69 hours 17 minutes. Among those who greeted the Commando were the Post-master-General (Senator Ashley), and the New Zealand Liaison Officer (Lieu-tenant-colonel Mothes).
