SURFING SEASON OPENS
The St. Clair Surf Life Saving .Club officially opened its season yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, who took part in various competitions, beach events, and canoe races. The women's team gave an excellent demonstration. The president, Mr H. H. Henderson, who declared the season open, congratulated the club on its record in* the past year, during which, owing to the absence of so many seniors with the forces, the work on the beaches had been carried on by junior and women members. He appealed to those joining the surf life saving club to regard it not merely as a pastime, but as a community effort.
