PIGEON RACING

The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew its Yearling Derby from Parnassus on Saturday. The station master liberated 96 birds from 18 lofts, and they made a good flight under trying conditions. The winning bird flew the 263 miles in 7h 13min at a velocity of 1,066yds per minute. Results:—Mr P.. Winter's Bronze Eagle 1, Mr iW. Hergreave's Jiil Weston 2, Mr M. Anderson's b.c. hen (43-98) 3, Mr A. Fraser's Faroe King 4, Mr J. Penno's Lady Cornhill 5, Mr P. Fraser's Big Three 6. The club will fly its Albert Stevenson's Memorial Cup race from Napier, an airline distance ot 550 miles, on Saturday next.
