PERSIAN ROAD TO RUSSIA

VAST TONNAGES TRANSPORTED (Rec. 11 a.m:) RUGBY, Nov. 3. The total tonnage of stores sent to Russia through the Persian Gulf British and American supply lines has now reached 4,000,000 tons, it is announced by general headquarters of the PersiaIraq Command. These stores, at first essential to the Russians in repelling the German invader, now serve a double * purpose. They are helping the Red army towards complete victory and at the same time rebuild the _ devastated areas. The story how the limited coin- , munications of Persia and Iraq were huilt up to make such hij: tonnages possible, is one of team work between the Allied nations involved. Neither the British nor the Americans alone was responsible for carrying out the task. They worked together and with them worked the people of Iraq and Persia.
