RESIGNATION OF FOUNDATION PRINCIPAL (P.A.) OH'RISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. The IRev. Dr J. J. North, foundation principal of the New Zealand .Baptist College, Auckland, who has continued in office beyond tho. normal retiring age because of the war, tendered his resignation to the Baptist Union assembly this afternoon to'take effect from the end of next year It was emphasised that Dr North's resignation at this stage was " in no way associated with other events which have received public attention."

The assembly passed a resolution of appreciation of I)r North's services-, saying, " He has guided the studies of students for the ministry with conspicuous ability. He has filled the onerous office with credit to himself and to thegreat benefit of the Baptist churches of this land."

The assembly agreed that Dr North he appointed the first principal emeritus, also that a special committee be set up by the new council to arrange for suitable recognition of his long and distinguished service.
