FINNS AND GERMANS IN PETSAMO AREA (Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON,. Oct. 8. ■ Reports from the Swedish border state that bitter fighting is going on. between the Finns and the Germans on some of the islands in the Tornea River, which forms the Swedish-Finnish frontier, says the British United Press Stockholm correspondent. Russian troops are reported to be advancing to Tormio to help the beleaguied Finns. German resistance has stiffened in Northern Finland, where it is believed the enemy intends to hold the Petsamo nickel belt at! all costs.
