EGYPTIAN CABINET CRISIS
KING QUARRELS WITH PREMIER PURELY DOMESTIC DISPUTE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyrigh fc (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) CAIRO, Oct. 8 : . King Farouk .dismissed the Egyptian Cabinet and asked Dr Ahmed Maher to form a. new Cabine^. (British Official Wireless.) ' ' (Rec. noon.) . RUGBY, Oct. 8; It is understood in London that the Egyptian Cabinet crisis arose over an order given by'the King directly ;to the Minister of the Interior,'Ghazzali Pasha,' to remove an inscription in Cairo which had attracted the King's unfavourable notice. , Nahas' Pasha, resenting this action, dismissed Ghazzali. This happened several weeks ago. Since then the British Embassy has used its influence to try to solve what was, of course, recognised by all concerned to he a purely .Egyptian matter, in which no British interests were involved. All efforts-; failed, however. Matters came to a head in the last few days, and it became evident that either Nahas Pasha would resign or be dismissed. '.'•'•''.' ■ The new Premier, Dr Ahmed Naher, has had a stormy and chequered career. He began as a strong supporter, with Nahas, of the Wafd, the leading Nationalist Party, but later broke away and pursued a policy of co-operation with the Palace. At the present time, therefore, he does not enjoy the support of the Wafd, which still has a parliamentary majority.
