HARD OF HEARING LEAGUE
The inauguration of a monthly church service at the rooms of the Dunedin branch of the Hard of Hearing League took place during September. The- preacher was the Rev. It. S. Watson, president of the National Council of Churches, which organisation is willingly assisting in this new branch of the league's activities. There was a good attendance of hard-of-hearing memers, who expressed their appreciation of the privilege of attending a service in comfort. The women's afternoon on September 20 was a social gathering for a friendly talk and cup of tea. On October 4 the speaker was Mrs Palerson, who gave a delightfully informal description of her journey rfrom England, in war time and told a little about the rationing of food in— Eng* land, and of some experiences of air raids. Mrs Paterson was warmly thanked for her talk by Mrs Richardson, president of the Women's Afternoon Committee. The combined social evening was held on September 26, when an informative and instructive 1 address on 'Native Birds Seen on Ihe Belt,' was given by Mrs H. Tily, a tireless observer of bird life. The speaker was thanked' by the league president, Dr Carswell.
