SUB-DIVISION AT GORSTORPHJNE
Further application has been made by the Government Housing Department for the City Council's consent to plans of proposed development of land at Corstorphine. The Works Committee reports that the council has already consented to .portion of this proposed sub-division, comprising the construction of an extension of Middleton road witW connecting streets to Millhead road and with 50 building allotments facing Millhead road, in the plans provision is made for a further extension nf Middleton road to the city boundary, thence to join a rural road in Taieri County, together with five further roads and culs-de-sac, making provision four a total of 289 building sites. Recommendations'regarding the plans of the subdivision for the area within the city boundary will be submilt?d to the meeting of the City Council on Monday night. With reference to the area lying within the Taieri County, the committee recommends that • the Housing Department be advised that it has been tentatively approved, subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with the Taieri County Council relative to an adjustment in the boundaries, in order to include the area within the city, which will be required to provide all the necessary services.
At the request of the Taieri County Council, a sub-committee consisting of the chairman of the committee (Cr Ireland), the town clerk, and the city engineer has been appointed to confer with the County Council, the Green Island Borough Council, and the Government Housing Department, on the subject of boundary adjustment and also on the question of the formation of the existing rural road ipassing through the subdivision
