ON TIDDIM ROAD
BRITISH ADVANCE CONTINUES (Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, October 6. British troops pushed on towards Tiddini after the collapse of Japanese resistance at Chocolate Staircase, states a South-cast Asia communique. The enemy abandoned strong defensive positions. The nine-mile gap between the main advance and the road block, (four miles north of Tiddim, is now being closed up. Enemy communications in Arakan and North Burma wore attacked by small forces of Allied aircraft yesterday.
