MINIMUM STANDARDS
POST-WAR SOCIAL POLICY (Rec. 10.35 a k m.) RUGBY. July 13. Mr Ernest Bevin told the House of Commons that the British Government was considering a maximum of 40 hours a' week and at least two weeks' annual holiday with full pay as part of the minimum standards to be applied throughout the world after the war. In considering the peace settlement, the Government would not fail to pay regard to the part played' by the workers in the war effort. He had already communicated to the House the declaration adopted by the 1.L.0. conference in which certain fundamental principles of social policy were formulated.
