EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION
At the monthly meeting of the Early Settlers' Association there were, present the Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron), Messrs J. Dey, D. J. Caldei. A. F. Cheyne, W. J. Strong, S. D. Macpherson, H. C. King, R. T. Stewart, J. F. Fraser, F. H. Campbell, J. A. Paterson, C. Morris, G. Hutton, W. R. Brugh, J. H. C. Somerville, Mr.J. W. Patton (president), in the chair. The following gifts were received during the month:—From Mrs A. Morrison, framed portraits of her late parents,- Mr and Mrs W Stewart (mother, Cornwall. 1849. father. Silistria,' 1862) ; from Mr K. S. Ramsay, framed photograph of a water colour, by L. Neville, showing the Otago Heads in 1877; from the estate of Mrs Elizabeth Dall, photographs of early Dunedin, taken by her late Father, Mr John Somerville; from the estate of Miss M. B. Calder, a pair of candle suuffers: from Miss J. Green, water colours by her late father, Mr S. E. Green, Taieri Mouth; from Mrs D. Smith, pair of beaded cuffs, made in Thurso by her great-grand-mother ; from Mrs J. Day, fi'amed photograph of her late mother, Mrs J. Bain (Gala. I 860)., ■ * The death of one early settler was recorded during the month —Mr John Affleck, Invercargill (Jura, 1858), aged 89 years.
