RUMANIA FEELS FULL WEIGHT
HEAVY DOSE OF BQK OVER WEEK-END
TERRIFIC EXPLOSIONS IN OIL STORAGE DEPOT LONDON, May 7. The full weight of Allied Mediterranean ail power fell on Rumania over the week-end. Bucharest, the capital, was bombed again last night, following daylight attacks by strong forces on rail targets at five points—Brasov, Pitesti, Craiova. .Turuu Severin. and Oampina. These daylight attacks continued the round-the-clorjk bombing of Rumanian targets, which began on Friday with an assault on tlie Ploesti oil refineries. Fortresses were detailed . for the bombing of an i aircraft factory at Brasov, while Liberators pounded the railway yards. There are important railway yards at all five points, and an aircraft factory at Brasov, while Turnu Severin is also an important transhipment point between river and rail traffic. Crews of the R.A.F. bombers attacking the Oampina railway yards and oil storage tanks saw bombs fall in a vast tank area with a capacity of over 200,000 tons of oil. At least one tank exploded, and other terrific explosions were seen. Thirteen per cent, of Rumania's oil is refined at Campina. Over 500 Fortresses and Liberators participated in the raids.
