HANDSOME GIFTS OF £35,000 MASTERTON, March 2. •Mr Donald Buchanan, a well-known settler, of Masterton, (has donated £lo,ooo'for assistance to ex-servicemen and their dependents. Half the money is to be used for the benefit of Wairarapa servicemen and servicewomen. He also donated £5.000 to the Blind Institute for further assistance to blind soldiers. ■ ■ ■ Following the generosity Of Mr Buchanan, the Misses Buchanan, of Hawera, created a similar trust of £20,000 for the benefit of soldiers in Taranaki.
