N.Z. MEAT RATION

New Zealand's meat rationing plan, which comes into force on Monday, March 6, is simple to operate. The ration of Is 9d worth of meat a week will be obtainable as follows:-—From the full sheet of meat coupons obtainable at local rationing offices or post offices a set of six coupons will become available each" week. Until further notice five of these coupons will have a value of 3d each and the 6ixth will have a value of 6d. One 3d coupon must be surrendered to the butcher for each 3d worth of meat bought. Customers do not need to register with butchers. For eadh restaurant, hotel, or club meal containing couponed meat, one 3d coupon must be surrendered. This New Zealand meat ration scheme is similar to the scheme operating in Britain. There is this important difference, however —that although New Zealanders will be eating much less meat than in the past, they will still be wetting more than twice as much as the people of Britain. BRITAIN ASKS . FOR MORE MEAT.—P.B.A.
