JAPANESE CONVOY ATTACKED TWO LARGE FREIGHTERS SUNK (Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 25. General S'tilw'ell's communique states that_ Mitchells with fighter escort, including Chinese pilots, bombed Maitak aerodrome at Hongkong. Heavy, flak and interception were encountered. One Zero was shot down. Mitchells of a. Sino-Aanerican sea sweep • off the South-east -China coast attacked a Japanese convoy of sevea merchantmen, sinking on©; : freighter and one tanker, each of 5,600 tons/ and seroiusly damaging another freighter of the same tonnage. All our aircraft; returned.
